THE RIMANÓCZY KÁLMÁN JUNIOR PALACE

Strada Roman Ciorogariu

About

The Orthodox Episcopal Palace is situated at no.3, Roman Ciorogariu Street. Originally, it was the family residence of the famous architect Rimanóczy Kálmán junior. After his death in 1912, it was bought by a person who, almost a decade later, sold it to the Ministry of Cults. The Ministry turned it in what it still is, the Orthodox Episcopal Palace. Most probably, the palace was built in 1903. However, there are no accurate data to support this statement. The initial owner of the building was its architect and constructor. It is an Eclectic building, but the Neogothic elements are preponderant on the façade. It has two levels and, on the façade, it is divided into seven registers: two of them are delimited at the upper level by pillars with Corinthian chapters ending in the attic. The widows from the ground floor close in their superior part into a circular curve while the upper windows in a cross arch.
