The Voortrekker Monument is situated in the northern part of South Africa in the city of Pretoria. Still an icon of South Africa and a must see. Get off that plane in Johannesburg and head straight there before your holiday starts. A fantastic site, and with huge cultural value. I don't want to say too much, go and see it for yourself. It is a reminder of the courage and determination of the Voortrekkers who left the Cape.
