John Vorster Tower
Leyds Street & Unisa Street
About
At 198-meters tall, the John Vorster Tower is the tallest object in the Pretorian skyline. Named after former South African president John Vorster, this striking steel and concrete structure is a model of Brutalism style architecture; however, it is not open to the public. In honor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup being held in South Africa, the world's largest football sculpture was built on the tower in September 2009, measuring 24-meters in diameter and weighing 50 tons.
