Sean Boyle, the owner and baker of all things cake has worked in bakeries for 30 years and has developed his skills as a confident wedding and occasion cake maker. He prides himself on the taste of the cake as well as how the cake looks. Sean knew what he wanted when opening The Cake Shop: to create a traditional and welcoming space which offered a selection of tasty savoury and sweet treats, including scones, savoury tarts, brownies, gateaux, and much more. All of the sweet cakes are served with a choice of lightly whipped cream or ice cream, making this a wonderful treat. Everything is baked and prepared fresh on the premises using the finest ingredients. Sean keeps hens at home to ensure a constant suply of fresh eggs and has several apple trees and rhubarb, blackberry and strawberry bushes where he can source fresh fruit for delicious crumbles and tarts.Fresh soup is always on offer with home-baked herb breads. The superb tarts draw customers from far and wide who come to meet friends or read the paper over a warm tea or coffee in lovely surroundings.The stunning window display is of great interest to all who pass, adults appreciate the delicate piping and vintage design of the wedding cakes while children are delighted by the colouful and characterful occasion cakes.
