About
Oyster lovers won't want to miss this tiny restaurant on the shore of Caulín, about 9km (5 1/2 miles) from Chacao and 25km (16 miles) from Ancud (from the ferry, follow the signs and turn right onto a gravel road). The restaurant, with its hardwood floors and cheery red tablecloths, sits on an estuary where they farm their own oysters, and they offer three sizes: especial, extra, and exportación, all on the half-shell and all exceptionally fresh. The menu is really just oysters served fried, stewed, and cocktailed, but there is salmon and beef stew, too. Afternoon tea is served with cakes and sandwiches daily from 3 to 7pm. The restaurant caters almost exclusively to visiting foreigners, so don't expect to mingle with locals here.
