About
Explore the dynamic history of a Mendocino County native.
The Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah houses the dynamic work and collection of a woman who dedicated her life to capturing the tradition, artwork and history of the local Pomo tribe and Native American tribes throughout the Southwest and Western regions. Dedicated in 1986, the museum offers an in-depth experience where visitors will learn about the personal and professional lives of Grace and her husband, Dr. John W. Hudson. In addition to the museum exhibits, docent-led tours of The Sun House offer an intimate glimpse into the Hudsons’ former home.
Built in 1911, it is a registered California Historical Landmark and still houses many of their personal and artistic possessions, including family heirlooms, antique Chinaware, lighting fixtures designed by John himself and even a tea set that Grace is rumored to have shared with Mary Todd Lincoln.
The museum houses rotating exhibits in addition to Hudsons’ personal art collection. Admission: $4/person, $3/student and seniors, $10/family Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Sunday, noon-4:30 p.m.
