About

Michelin recommends this elegant gourmet restaurant, set in a handsome 18th-century townhouse in Lisbon's fashionable Chiado quarter. The graceful interior is embellished with intricate hand-painted azulejos (decorative tiles) although the 4 Seasons Room is distinctly contemporary in looks with its modern artwork and scarlet-hued décor. The overall impression, however, is one of balance and refinement. Chef Luís Santos has designed a menu that celebrates traditional Portuguese cuisine but allows for international flourishes, and is particularly sympathetic towards French influences. Daily set lunch-dinner and à la carte options include roasted cod with smoked ham, spinach and chickpea purée and beef fillet with foie gras, potato rosti and oven roasted vegetables. A creative, seasonal menu dégustation (tasting menu) is also available. Emboldening the cuisine is a fine wine selection. During the warmer months tables are set on a terrace that commands romantic city and river views. Ask for a window table in winter. Reservations recommended.
