Boomer by name, booming by nature, such is the way of the angry ocean surf off Encounter Bay. Not for the faint hearted, the ocean swell comes barrelling in from Antarctica and lashes Port Elliot's renowned surf beach. Not just for surfing, Boomer is also a popular spot for visitors to be on the lookout for the southern right whale, who in winter will claim this area its territory, as it cruises effortlessly offshore, heading towards it's northern breeding grounds.
