About
A classic house celebrates the city's agricultural past with gorgeous plantings.
Built in 1887, Carlsbad's Craftsman-style Magee House is one of the city's most historic structures. Now home to the Carlsbad Historical Society, the house is also noteworthy for gardens where the past comes alive. In addition to an herb garden and an area that shows off the commercial crops that were once local mainstays, the real highlight is the rose collection. Here you'll find numerous bushes that represent 15 different families of roses. The garden is so impressive that Carlsbad earned the title of "An American Rose City" in 2002 from the American Rose Society.
