Tables are set with linen, there are stylish bistro chairs, a timber bar and servery, chunky chock-a-block shelves and wine racks groaning under produce and bottles. Cream and coffee walls are dotted with historic images. A whitebait starter is a good bowl of WA fish while the fryer gets a workout with rabbit rillettes, which come as a handful-sized ball coated in brioche crumbs and browned, with shreds of faintly gamy meat and tarragon flavours. The house favourite pie is beef and vegetable - a natural for lunch. A pork scotch fillet is braised in pot-roast style until its texture turns to fall-apart shreds. To finish, there is a palate-cleansing house sorbet and an espresso panna cotta with pistachio biscotti and a slice of chocolate and dried fig log. Monday-Sunday evening opening hours is 18:30-00.
