The Girl and the Fig brings the Mediterranean to downtown Sonoma, every night of the week. Located on the ground floor of the old Sonoma Hotel, the restaurant is swanky but not over-the-top. The menu here is all about French country cooking—as many figs as possible. Try the signature salad of arugula, goat cheese, pancetta, pecans, and grilled figs. Provençal classics range from the simple—radishes with anchovy butter—to the sublime—mussels with herbs, garlic, and leeks in Herbsaint. Can't sit immediately Belly up to the antique bar and sip pastis while waiting for a table.
