Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s Friday Night shows get the beach rocking. Things get even livelier than normal on Fridays in summer along the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk , one of the best seaside amusement parks in the world. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., mid-June to Labor Day weekend, listen to hits from the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s by bands including rock legends like Eddie Money, Starship frontman Mickey Thomas, and the Edgar Winter Band, and doo-woppers like Papa Doo Run Run. The summer concerts are free, so if you like front-and-center seating, head to the Boardwalk Stage at 4 p.m. when doors open to nab prime spots. That’s if you can resist the temptation of one more spin on the classic Big Dipper wood coaster or more playtime on dozens of other carnival-style rides and attractions. The boardwalk is open daily at 11 a.m. daily from mid-April through Labor Day (limited operations throughout the year), with closing hours changing throughout the week; check the website calendar for details, as well as updates on band lineups and special events or deals.
