Plaza Manuel Belgrano

Juramento 2200

About

Named after the famous politician and economist Manuel Belgrano, this plaza is marked by jacaranda trees and lush green gardens. Also known as Plaza Juramento, this square features a General Manuel Belgrano monument that was constructed in 1961. This square is surrounded by some very interesting tourist attractions like the Sarmiento Museum and La Redonda. Apart from being an important meeting point, the square also boasts of being a weekend artisans market, comparable to the weekend market held in Recoleta's Plaza Francia. Casual visitors to Buenos Aires rarely make it as far as Belgrano, a mainly residential neighborhood, but should the adventorous ones make the trek up to the nearby Chinatown in a far-reaching corner of the neighborhood, they are recommended to skip over the few blocks to Plaza Manuel Belgrano to enjoy an afternoon browsing through locally-made art, jewelry, and souvenirs.
