Ostras Azocar has a long and storied past, from when it was openend in 1945, to when it suffered a devastating fire in the 90's, to surviving an earthquake. It's a classic in Santiago, and attracts families and tourists alike to try its version of the commonly-found machas a la parmesana (razor clams with cream, cheese and a drop of rum), and erizos con salsa verde (sea urchins in green sauce). Some people say it's a little bit worse for wear, but it remains a favorite among Santiaguinos, for its tradition, easy downtown location and preparation of a wide variety of the delicious seafood Chile has to offer.
