Olowalu Beach
On west Maui's southern shoreline

Olowalu Beach is one of few beaches on west Maui's southern shoreline. Although there are no facilities at this beach it supports a variety of activities. This is a good place to find safe swimming conditions and good waters for snorkeling. An offshore reef harbors many varieties of fish, which are used to snorkelers in the water. This is also a good place to watch for the humpback whales that come to these waters in the winter months. (Binoculars are a good investment if you plan to watch for whales from shore or a cruise.) The beach itself is a long, narrow strip of sand. A tree shaded area lies between the beach and the highway. Looking mauka beach users will enjoy a good view of the west Maui mountains.
