The Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation was founded in 1981 as a center of art and learning and situated in a contemporary building of typical Islamic design with arched columns, elaborate courtyards, and well designed gardens and beautifully carved doorways. The center hosts a variety of events , including art exhibits, lectures, concerts and movies, and arts workshop classes. The Cultural Foundation comprises the National Archives , the National Library and the Institute of Culture and Art and it is operated under the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.
