Monument to Dead Generals and Soldiers of the Soviet Red Army

Along Zhonghua Road

About

Despite strenuous relations with neighboring Russia, the citizens of Shenyang still applaud the sacrifices Russian soldiers made in 1945. Many soldiers died while attempting to liberate Shenyang from Japan and this fitting memorial honors their courage. A gray pole, adorned with former Soviet symbols of a sickle and an axe, reaches more than 24 meters (79 feet) high. The names of all the soldiers who perished in the battle are inscribed along the monument's base. The monument can easily be found next to Shenyang's south railway station.
