Moja Island

About

Möja lies just where the mid-archipelago meets the outer-archipelago's unique nature. People have lived here since Viking times, and Möja is still a lively island all year round. Many artists and writers have found their inspiration here, including the archipelago artist Roland Svensson who has his own museum at Ramsmora. Evert Taube wrote "Dans på Sunnarö" from the guest house, Södermöja Pension, and the composer, Jules Sylvain, had his summer house just outside on Byholmen. On Möja, there are almost only gravel roads and almost no cars, which makes Möja a wonderful island to cycle around and experience the authentic archipelago environment. You can also rent a kayak and paddle out to the open sea and surrounding islands. Large parts of the archipelago east of Möja are nature reserves, making kayaking a particularly special experience. If you want to stay the night on Möja, there are hostels, bed & breakfasts and cottages to choose from. There are also grocery stores, guest harbours and many good restaurants.
