One of the city's finest Italian restaurants, the highly respected Mezzaluna is run by Naples-born Michael Guerrieri, who cut his culinary teeth in Manhattan but relocated to Portugal in the late 1990s. Guerrieri, a gourmet chef known for his demanding perfectionism, has crafted a menu that showcases delicious pasta dishes such as linguine with calamari, watercress, garlic and oil topped with roasted spicy sausage, and tagliatelle with Porcini mushrooms, shrimp, courgette with a white wine reduction and Parmesan cheeses. He's also reinvented some classic Portuguese meat and seafood recipes. Needless to say, the wine cellar is impressive and numbers fine Italian and Portuguese labels.
