This is a nearby island of Cebu Philippines and the exact site of the battle between Ferndinand Magellan and the great filipino warrior Lapulapu who according to history was an ordinary man in the island. When Magelland decided to go to Mactan island, he was greeted with the hostility of the inhabitants of the island who knows how they conquered the nearby Cebu mainland. Magellan was advised not to go to Mactan island but he brought along with him instead his soldiers and when they reach the shore of Mactan island ( this site in pic) he had a battle with the inhabitants led by the galant Lapulapu after which Magellan was killed during the battle.
