Imphal Valley, covering an area of 1,843 sq km, is a result of drainage of various small rivers that originate from several hills around it. This oval shaped valley is drained by various rivers including Imphal River, Thoubal, Iril, Sekmai and Khuga. The southern part of the valley constitutes various lakes and swamps; most popular is the Loktak Lake. This valley is home to a number of attractions namely, Palace of Kangla, Polo Ground and Manipur State Museum.
