This is one of the most majestic waterfalls of Kwazulu Natal with a rich geological and cultural history. Most of the indigenous vegetation has been preserved and a slightly steep 2.5km walk through the valley thicket can be taken to the plunge pool. In the thicket one is likely to have close encounters with Rock hyrax, bush buck or perhaps a glimpse of the cape clawless otter in the Umgeni river pools.
