Hemagiri, situated 6 km away from K. R. Petay town on the banks of the Hemavati River, is mainly an anicut(dam) that provides water for irrigation purposes. It has a continuous strip of foliage, constructed at the foot of a hill near the Hemavati River. This site is used for organising a cattle fair during the car festival celebrated in the nearby Venkataramanaswamy temple.
