It is the site of the original Kings School from 1832 to 1835, and it was used for other schools until 1865, when it became home to the Harris family, hence the name Harrisford. Firstly occuptied by The Kings School, then a private school run by William Woolls, then Linden Girls School run by Mr and Mrs Griffith. Named Harrisford by later owner John Harris.
