Set within a drab and shadowy neighborhood of Zurich West, and flanked with roaring traffic ramps and overpasses, this shop achieved fame and notoriety throughout Switzerland, thanks to a physical plant that's composed of 17 seagoing containers piled to a height of 85 feet. In Zurich, it ranks as a tall building. Inside, you'll find the entire line of backpacks, wallets, bike saddlebags, dopp kits, wallets, and duffel bags for which Freitag, within counter-culture fashion accessories for the young and the restless, is famous. Many of the goods sold here are crafted from colorful scraps of canvas, and some have been singled out by Manhattan's Museum of Modern Art for the integrity and originality of their designs.
