A masterpiece of Renaissance military architecture, Fortezza da Basso(official name Fortezza di San Giovanni Battista) was designed by Antonio da Sangallo il Giovane for Alessandro de' Medici. It was constructed between 1534 and 1537. It then became the main structure for the 1967 trade fair because of it very central location from the historic center of Florence. The Fortezza is an ideal place for trade shows, conventions, fashion shows, festivals and exhibitions. It's size is nearly 100,000 square meters with the ability to build a meeting room for 3500 people but it can also house large receptions and galas.
