About
As long as there has been rock and roll in Los Angeles, there has been the Whiskey a-Go-Go .
Since opening its doors on the Sunset Strip in 1964, the Whiskey a-Go-Go has become an icon and has hosted some of the biggest names in rock and roll, from The Doors, Janis Joplin, and Led Zeppelin to The Police, The Talking Heads, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, not to mention many of today’s hot, up-and-coming bands. While the Sunset Strip has undergone many transformations over the years, the Whiskey has been a mainstay, helping to shape the careers of many bands, especially those in Southern California.
Insider’s Tip: The Whiskey is also known for sparking the trend of mini-skirted Go-Go dancers at concerts, something still seen today.
