About
The very model of a neighborhood restaurant, Deanie's, with its monster portions and generally high-quality food, is worth making the drive to Metairie for. From the new potatoes (boiled in crab juice) that are plunked on the table when you arrive, to the almost ridiculously high piles of fried seafood that follow, it's one silly and savory experience. Even the salads are large; try the unusual sweet fig and balsamic dressing (made in-house). Opinions differ on whether their barbecued shrimp is the best in town (we think not, but we like it just fine), but note that the portion for two is so large that it's more reasonable (and more affordable) to just split the portion for one -- and you may still have leftovers!
