Perched precipitously atop Beacon Point overlooking Apollo Bay, the open-plan dining room here provides the Great Ocean Road’s most spectacular dining. At night, floodlit tree ferns and manna gums replace the coastal view and suddenly you’re in a wonderful tree house. To the stunning setting, add an emphasis on local produce, imaginative Mediterranean-inspired dishes and efficient friendly service. Try an entree of ocean trout gravlax served with soft-boiled egg and dukkah. Greek mains, perfected over four decades in the business, are standouts: perfectly balanced braised octopus salad with apple, walnut, beetroot and goat’s cheese; terracotta baked prawns with tomato and feta. Other long-time favourites include succulent boned rabbit stuffed with figs and walnuts. There are daily specials with an emphasis on local seafood and desserts - maybe the Greek selection (baklava, pistachio icecream) for two - to send you over the edge.
