The Lake Hotel is a four star property run by the Huggard Family & has been welcoming guests since 1820, so a long tradition of warm Irish hospitality awaits all visitors. The Castlelough Restaurant is an impressive dining room. It has high ceilings, large ornate mirrors and cornice work which reminds one of the great country houses of the past when dinner was the highlight of the day and ball gowns and black tie were the usual attire.Without doubt the most eye catching feature of this magnificent room is the vast windows which span the full room, from one end to the other, ensuring that all are reminded of the breath taking scenery just beyond the hotel. Dining in a space with this backdrop is memorable. Inevitably the food on offer competes with this stunning vista for attention but with the range of fresh seafood, seasonal meats, organic vegetables, local cheeses and mouth-watering desserts used by the Chefs, as the flavours melt in the mouth, the dishes make themselves noticed.During 2010, the AA awarded The Castlelough Restaurant with an AA Rosette in recognition of the high standard of food prepared and served and the use of locally sourced produce. The Castlelough Restaurant is open daily for breakfast from 8am to 10am and for dinner from 6.30pm to 9pm. Table d’hote and a la carte menus are available. Special dietary requirements are catered for as much as possible but advance notice is helpful.Groups are welcome to dine in the Castlelough Restaurant and the staff will help to create menus especially to celebrate any occasion. Non-residents are welcome to dine in the Castlelough Restaurant, subject to availability.The setting at The Lake Hotel is the perfect backdrop when enjoying good food, drink and company. Guests and non-residents can enjoy classic afternoon tea in the Piano Lounge, a light or more substantial lunch in the Sun Lounge, a relaxing drink in the Devil's Punch Bowl Bar and dinner in the grandeur of the original hotel dining room, the Castlelough Restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff offering excellent, locally sourced produce prepared with care by Chefs, ensures a most enjoyable dining experience.Drinks and food are served outside on the lawn, weather permitting.
