Bruhanmutt, also known as Sri Murugarajendra Mutt, is located at a distance of about 3 km from the main city. This Mutt was built to honour the renowned Guru of the Veershaiva community, housing a tomb of Immadi Muruga Swamy. This Lingayat Mutt dates back to the period of Shiva Sharanas of the 12th Century AD, which propagates Basava dharma. There is a beautiful botanical garden located within the premises of Brihanmutt, which is called Murugha Vana.
