At the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains in Sierra Madre, the quaint, family-owned Zugo’s café offers all who enter warm, friendly service, favorite Italian dishes, The owners, Cesare and Sherry Grossi, bring to life a rich Italian heritage with a menu inspired by the food Cesare’s mother would cook during his childhood in Rome. Now he and Sherry continue his mother’s tradition, cooking with love, and capturing the essence of true Italian cooking using “fresh, quality ingredients prepared from scratch.” Off the menu: Chicken Marsala – Skinless, boneless herbed chicken breast served over mashed potatoes with our house made Marsala sauce (Marsala wine, mushrooms, shallots, tomatoes and roasted garlic) with grilled veggies. Lasagna Bolognese – Our Bolognese sauce is prepared the old fashioned way with imported tomatoes, pork, beef, celery, carrots, onions, and white wine all simmered to perfection. For a special treat, try one of the delicious homemade cupcakes and don’t miss one of the biannual wine tastings.
