WTF Gallery and Cafe

7 Sukhumvit Soi 51, Ekamai

About

This is the alley less traveled. An appropriate Robert Frost quote is painted on the wall opposite the storefront of this cool cafe/bar tucked away just off hectic Sukhumvit Road. The menu shows some some good Thai dishes as well as tapas and other Western-style snacks. Pizzas are a bit smaller and cheaper than at most Italian joints but have a decent charred crust, slightly on the crackerish side. But many will come just to chill, chat with friends and listen to an eclectic mix of music. The drinks include a full bar, espresso machine, and wine list and prices are more affordable than most bars (most everything is well under 200 baht). Plus some of the creative concoctions are fun and worth trying out. A vodka drink with chocolate and a banana Sherry and soda for your tapas WTF Cafe offers something a little different from the rest of the scene but not in any contrived sort of way. A TV overlooks the room showing the occasional program or sporting event or basically anything else if you ask nicely. Two upper floors are dedicated gallery space for local artists and shows rotate often. And the name stands for Wonderful Thai Friendship. What did you think it meant Entering Soi 51 the cafe is on the second narrow alley on the left from Sukhumvit Road. However, parking is available in a small closed in lot located on the first narrow alley on the left. You can enter the cafe's back door from there. The closest BTS SkyTrain station is Thong Lor, about five minute's walk. Though the cafe is open Tues-Sun 6 pm-1 am the gallery hours are 3-10 pm.
