About
Kevin and Ann Dunne established White Gables restaurant, at the crossroads in Moycullen village, just 8km from Galway, in 1990. On arrival guests may enjoy an aperitif in the warm bar before moving in to the stone clad candle lit restaurant. Kevin sources local fresh ingredients for his daily changing menu. The cooking is traditional and reputed to be consistently good. It is focused around seafood, with time warp classics such as Seafood Cocktail Marie Rose, poached fresh Halibut Veronique and Scallops Mornay. Meat dishes make no concessions to whims of culinary fashion, and with some justification, it seems: a traditional Roast Duckling with Orange Sauce is among the most popular choices. The wine list is both comprehensive and exciting with lots of new world discoveries.Details like the fresh flowers, even in the spotless bathrooms, the mint chocolates served with coffee, and the professional, attentive service, make dinner here feel like a special occasion.A hospitable and welcoming restaurant that is worth a detour, it is recommended by all the leading domestic guides for restaurants in Ireland. In addition, White Gables is proud to be the recipient of a Certificate of Excellence based on reviews from the Trip Advisor Community in 2012Check out the web site for on line-bookings and recession beating offers.
