About
Off the beaten path, few visitors discover beautiful Westview Cemetery located just west of downtown. One of the largest cemeteries in the Southeast, Westview spans over 500 acres and boasts some of the city's oldest structures. Founded in 1884, the cemetery features a large Jewish section, a Civil War Memorial and is the final resting place of many famous Atlantans, including Mayor William B. Hartsfield, Asa Candler, the founder of the Coca-Cola company, and author, Joel Chandler Harris. Westview's majestic stone Mausoleum and Chapel, constructed in 1943, features beautiful stained glass windows and religious paintings. A haven for history buffs and nature lovers, Westview is wonderful place to stroll and experience Atlanta's past and present. -Rachel Quartarone
