Wat That Luang Rasamahavihane is known as the "Monastery of the Royal Stupa." It has long been associated with Lao royalty of Luang Prabang.The larger stupa behind the sim dates from 1818 and is said to contain a relic of the Buddha. The sim is similar in style to nearby Wat Mai and Wat Wisunalat, but the main attraction is the huge bronze Buddha image inside, which weighs some 600 kilograms.
