Wasabi

Manuel Montt 195 Cuisines: Asian, Japanese

About

With its wasabi-colored walls and minimalist Japanese style inside, you won't soon forget you're in a sushi restaurant at Wasabi, a sushi bar and restaurant in Providencia's Manuel Montt neighborhood. Service is quick, the rolls are fresh, and the menu has a few surprises, including flavored rice and ostiones furay, which replaces the typical panko-breaded shrimp with scallops. In addition to rols, main courses on the menu include a couple of Thai dishes, tuna from Isla de Pascua, a floral salmon, sealed with lavender-scented oil and minted chicken, which is a chicken dish served with a yogurt-mint sauce. But perhaps the most innovative item of all on the menu is the sake sour, a variation on Chile's national drink, the pisco sour, which uses lemon juice, ice, sugar, and typically pisco to make a refreshing drink. At wasabi, they replace the pisco with sake. It's an interesting twist on a traditional drink, and worth a try.
