Just about a one hour's drive on the Rishikesh Badrinath Highway, from Rishikesh, vashishta Gufa is an Idyllic place for meditation and contemplation. It is nestled amidst a grove of Gular(Ficus) trees along the slope leading to the cascading white waters of the ganga. The patron saint Sri Narayana Gurukkal is an erudite and Knowledgable saint with a very practical and modern outlook. the Ashram offers food for anyone who reaches at meal times. The gufa houses a Lingam which is considered to be holy. One can just sit by the river and watch the raafters and canoe riders go past, or take a walk along the peaceful beach.
