The Valnur Fishing Camp is situated on the banks of the Cauvery, close to Kushalnagar, in the Coorg district. It is a popular place among angling enthusiasts as a wide variety of fish are available here including golden mahaseer and maral which are found in plenty. Mornings are considered to be the best time for angling. Fishing permits need to be obtained from the Coorg Wildlife Society. Most home stays and plantation stays assist their guests in obtaining these permits. Valnur is popular for two things Angling (fishing) and birdwatching. At Valnur the river Cauvery flows northwards in wider and shallower expanse, making many island like river-scape .It is a tiny hamlet on the eastern side of Coorg fringing the Durare forest.
