Union Buildings

The wall-to-wall, elevated sandstone buildings house the presidential offices and government headquarters of Pretoria. This is a monumental landmark where former President Nelson Mandela was inaugurated in 1994. Union Buildings have beautiful, well-tended gardens that are planted with indigenous trees and flowers are often used for public events and celebrations. The dominating statue of General Louis Botha on horseback is also seen here.
