About Ukhrul

Ukhrul is a district in the north eastern state of Manipur in India . It lies about 84 kilometres (52 mi) north east of Imphal. The village of Shirui is situated at a distance of 15 km from Ukhrul and about 90 km from the state capital Imphal. The village is famous for the state flower of Manipur, Shirui Lily, which is also known as Kashong Timrawon in the local language. The Khangkhui Cave, locally called as the Khangkhui Mangsor Cave, is essentially a natural limestone cave. Khayang Peak, at a height of 3,114 m above sea level, is regarded as one of the highest mountain peaks of the region. The Shirui Kashung Peak is at a height of 2,835 m above sea level. The Azoa Jenephiu Magi Lake is about 7 km away from the Khayang Falls and is close to the Kachouphung Lake. The Kachouphung Lake is around 7 km away from the Khayang Falls, on the Achuwa Magi Hills. Ango Ching is spread over an area of 150 sq km and is situated near the Sanalok (Chamu) River and the Kachouphung Lake.
