Udgir Fort is situated in the Udgir city, which was built during pre-Bahamani age in the 12th century. The fort is known for the historic battle between Maratha ruler Sadashivrao Bhau and Nizam. This battle also led to the signing of the 'Treaty of Udgir', after the defeat of the Nizam. There is also a deep underground tunnel at Udgir Fort, which connects toBidar and Bhalki forts. It also has a 40 ft deep trench at this site, which comprises various palaces along with 60 ft below the normal ground level Samadhi of Udaygir Maharaj. The fort also has few of the inscriptions in Persian and Arabic that date back to several centuries.
