About
Towra Point Nature Reserve supports the largest wetland of its type in the greater Sydney region. In 1984, Towra Point Nature Reserve was listed as an internationally important wetland under the Ramsar Convention. This is because it protects saltmarsh and mangrove communities that are now rare in the area, and provides habitat for large numbers of migratory shorebirds and for threatened species, such as the little tern. The site's mangroves and seagrasses also provide protection and food for juvenile fish species.
