Thongsa Gompa

Thongsa Gompa is the oldest Bhutanese Monastery in the area and was founded in 1692. The old monastery building was destroyed by the Gurkhas in their rampageacross Sikkim when the British arrived. The new building was built on the same area. Tourists are allowed to attend the prayer services which are carried out by the monks.
