The municipal limited company "Kurzemes filharmonija" was established in 11 august 2009. The company, which is now located in the theater house "Juras varti" and is running it, constitutes a modern, dynamic and internationally competitive recreation centre, that is everybody can access – those living in Ventspils city, Kurzeme area, Latvia and also foreign visitors. The aim of the company is to present professional performing art of various genres – theater, opera and ballet performances, concerts of classic, popular, experimental, folk and other music, exhibitions of visual and new media art, and to support the development of professional interdisciplinary projects and activities.
