Acclaimed theatre group Toneelgroep Amsterdam turns its attention to Chekhov’s The Seagull, performed at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam with English surtitles on Thursday, 10 October 2013.World class theatreThe Seagull is Chekhov’s most well-known and best-loved play, with the work exhibiting all of the qualities that helped to cement the Russian playwright in the hearts and minds of theatre-goers around the world. Its plot dramatises the romantic and artistic conflicts between the ingenue Nina, the fading actress Irina Arkadina, her son the symbolist playwright Konstantin Tréplev, and the famous middlebrow story writer Trigorin.* Pleasenote that performances of this production will only be surtitled on the date(s)mentioned above. The remaining performances on the below dates are in Dutch andwill not feature English surtitles.
