The monument was initiated by the Regent Kediri, Sutrino and construction began in 2003. The monument is precisely located in the village of Tugu Rejo, District Ngasem was inspired by "Jongko Jojoboyo" King of Kediri XII century who wanted to unite the five regions in Kediri. The initial purpose constructed Gumul Simpang Lima is as new economic centers in Kediri, so expect more advanced economy of Kediri. In the main building of this monument there are spaces for meetings and hall auditorium on the top floor which roof like a dome and multipurpose room on the ground floor. There is also a diorama on the top floor and a minimarket that sells souvenirs in the basement. The monument also has three access underground roads that connect the parking lot with this monument so that visitors do not have to cross the street.
