The Margate Train has a variety of businesses that will interest everyone from young children to grandparents. It also offers shopping with a difference at Margate, southern Tasmania. Margate is 20 minutes south of Hobart (19 kilometres /12 miles) and a short drive south of Kingston. The carriages have now been converted into specialty shops offering a wide variety of goods from antiques and collectables to second-hand goods and a cafe. About 20 mins from Hobart city over the Southern Outlet is this wonderful old train that has been turned into a treasure of little shops. You can find all sorts of goodies from clothes, books and jewellery but the best is the pancake carriage. An easy drive from Hobart for some great shopping for unique and quirky things. It is a good stop on the way down to Huonville or visiting Kingston.
