About

This is the first Lebanese restaurant in Bangkok and has been around for almost 30 years, but in various locations. Rafic Salhany, the second-generation owner, says The Cedar caters to Thai and expat families, more than tourists. This location used to be open for dinner only, but in the middle of last year, it started a lunch service which is quite popular. The menu is simple, with one page listing almost 30 mezze selections, and another page of house specialities including kebabs, moussaka and chicken and lamb dishes. Cheese puff is a recommended mezze, and it is delicious, with melting cheese in a pastry roll that has been deep-fried but is dry and with no taste of oil. Another starter, Cedar ratatouille, is mainly eggplant and capsicum in a diluted but tasty sauce. The house speciality, lamb delight, features tender meat almost falling off the bone, marinated in garlic and other spices, and is big enough for two. Only two desserts are on offer, baklawa and halawa, both very sweet.
