This is one of the youngest municipal cultural institutions, which was called into being on January 1, 2005. The theatre has worked on the preparation of various social and educational projects and is strongly involved in the life of the local community. The Theatre's primary mission is the revitalization of Nowa Huta. The Theatre arranges theatre performances, festivals, concerts, exhibitions, film and multimedia shows, as well as meetings and workshops and edits a social and cultural monthly, Lodołamacz-pismo ludzi walczących ("Ice-breaker - the Magazine of Fighting People"). Lodołamacz is one of the ways to change the image of Nowa Huta, showing this part of Krakow as an interesting place on the City cultural map. The institution also arranges many important artistic events, such as, Genius Loci Festival, ELDORADO Festival, and SLAMDANCE Film Festival, the independent film festival. It also co-organises Divine Comedy - International Theatre Festival. Łaźnia Nowa Theatre is one of the most dynamic theatrical institutions in Poland. His recent shows include Oedipus – a sentimental tragedy with Nowa Huta in the background (2006) and A bloody wedding that is a musical story about gypsy heart, loosely based on Garcia Lorca's play (2007).
